USAID AND SIDA ORGANIZE CONFERENCE ON CAPITAL INVESTMENT PLANNING

Sarajevo, April 16, 2007 – The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is pleased to announce that USAID and the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) will organize a conference on capital investment planning (CIP).   The CIP conference will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in Hotel Park in Vogosca.  Participants will include representatives from USAID and Sida-supported Governance Accountability Project (GAP) partner municipalities.  All media are invited to attend.

CIP enables long-term community development and financial planning.  As one of GAP’s major activities, CIP has been introduced into 21 partner municipalities from throughout BiH.  A significant number of municipalities have entered the third year of the CIP updating process.  The conference will provide an opportunity for BiH municipalities to exchange good practices, hear about experiences from EU countries and learn how to use EU pre-accession funds.

USAID and Sida jointly fund GAP.  The project assists local governments in BiH to make governance structures more efficient and accountable.
