Sarajevo, January 24, 2007 – USAID Mission Director Jane Nandy will open new One Stop Shops (OSSs) in Kalesija and Zivinice on Thursday, January 25, 2007. The OSS spaces in Kalesija and Zivinice municipalities were remodeled through the Government Accountability Project (GAP) with a contribution from the municipalities. The two municipalities have received a full package of technical assistance from GAP. The One Stop Shop staff was trained in customer service and public relations. Kalesija and Zivinice municipalities have also received grants from GAP. In Kalesija municipality, they were used for paving roads and equipping the Bosnian Cultural Center. In the Zivinice municipality, grants were used for the construction of a sports field for children in Podgajevi village, a sewage system in Ciljuge village, to purchase equipment for a sports center and to reconstruct a multipurpose hall. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) jointly funded the $20 million GAP. The project assists local governments in BiH to increase their efficiency and accountability.
