USAID MISSION DIRECTOR TO SPEAK ABOUT COURT REFORMS

AT PRESS CONFERENCE IN BANJA LUKA

Sarajevo, February 20, 2007 – The U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Mission Director Jane Nandy will participate in a press conference at the Banja Luka Basic Court premises on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 11 am.  Other speakers will include the RS Supreme Court President, Banja Luka District Court President and Banja Luka Basic Court Acting President.  The press conference will highlight the impact of technical assistance and support provided to the courts by USAID’s Justice Sector Development Project (JSDP).

USAID Mission Director says: “The U.S. Government believes reform is essential to the fair and efficient provision of justice in BiH’s courts.  Without a modern system of administration and case management, BiH courts are unable to do their jobs.  Modern practices of court administration will enable the courts to operate faster and provide justice more predictably.”

JSDP is a five-year project that works with model courts to improve court administration and strengthen the rule of law in BiH.
