Sarajevo, September 5, 2006 – The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is pleased to announce that USAID Mission Director Jane Nandy will speak at the opening ceremony of the fifth International EKOBIS Fair in Bihać on Thursday, September 6, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the City Isle in Bihac.  All media are invited to attend.

          The fair builds on global trends in tourism, ecology, and healthy food production.  In addition, the fair strengthens links among the wood processing, tourism and agricultural sectors in BiH.  USAID’s Cluster Competitiveness Activity (CCA) has provided technical assistance to the Una-Sana Chamber of Commerce on the organizational aspects of EKOBIS.   In addition, USAID supported tourism and wood cluster firm members to exhibit at the fair.

CCA assists businesses involved in wood processing and tourism in BiH.  The goal is to increase the rate of economic growth in BiH.  To date, the U.S. Government, through USAID, has provided over $1 billion in assistance to support economic, democratic and social progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
