PRESS RELEASE
Sarajevo, March 27, 2007 - The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is pleased to announce that USAID Mission Director Jane Nandy will announce a new $16 million Development Credit Authority (DCA) agreement with UniCredit Zagrebacka Bank. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. in the Mostar Fair conference room No 4 in Mostar. All media are invited to attend. Under the DCA, USAID provided UniCredit Zagrebacka Bank a 50% credit guarantee for long-term loans to companies in the agricultural production and processing, wood processing, and tourism sectors. The Bank will use its own funds to make loans. Out of the total amount, $14 million will go for loans to wood and tourism private enterprises and $2 million will be allocated to small agricultural producer cooperatives, non-governmental organizations and micro enterprises. The Bank has four years to use the guarantee, and the guarantee will cover ten years. The DCA complements two ongoing USAID projects, Linking Agricultural Producers and Markets (LAMP) and Cluster Competitiveness Activity (CCA), that work on strengthening agricultural, wood processing, and tourism sectors in BiH.
