BiH COMPANIES AND MUNICIPALITIES SUPPORT

CLEAN IS BEAUTIFUL CAMPAIGN

 

Sarajevo, April 14, 2008 –  The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is pleased to announce that a growing number of public utility companies and municipalities from throughout BiH decided to support the Clean is Beautiful environmental campaign.

To date, 17 public utility companies, including those from Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Prijedor, Doboj, Bijeljina, Trebinje, Pale, Rogatica, Mrkonjic Grad, Derventa, Tuzla, Zenica, Travnik, Novi Travnik, Jajce, Mostar, and Bihac, decided to join the campaign and to improve the environment cleanness through various anti-litter and recycling activities.  In addition, six BiH municipalities (Bijeljina, Capljina, Grude, Zavidovici, and Zenica) officially joined the Clean is Beautiful campaign.  These municipalities will use the campaign visual materials and its tag line “Put the Right Thing in the Right Place.” 

 

USAID`s Cluster Competitiveness Activity (CCA) has supported the Clean is Beautiful public awareness campaign to publicize the urgent need for a clean urban and rural environment in BiH for the benefit of tourism.  The campaign focuses on environmental cleanup and will be implemented throughout the country during spring 2008. The campaign is implemented in cooperation with BiH and entity ministries, the association of private bottling and packaging companies BIHPAK, and the entity public broadcasting services. 

 

USAID supports economic growth in BiH by advancing the business success of the tourism and wood sectors.  To date, the U.S. Government, through USAID, has provided over $1 billion in assistance to support economic, democratic and social progress in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
